MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Mixed Martial Arts lessons that most gyms offer, or even Bendigo’s own MMA centre offers, comprise of a combination of striking and grappling techniques to subdue or defeat an opponent. These techniques are performed either while standing, or on the ground. To be a successful all-round fighter you need to be well versed in striking and grappling techniques. The popularity of Mixed Martial Art as a spectator sport has skyrocketed over the past 10 years and so many gyms are catering to the open demand from fitness workout enthusiasts keen to try their hand at result-oriented MMA training courses and classes like Aikido, Jujitsu, Ninjutsu, Kung Fu and Taekwondo.
Very few sports produce well-rounded athletes that MMA courses produce. The MMA fighter, whether an adult, or teenager must endure 5 minutes per round for 3 to 5 rounds per competition bout. The fighters training classes must address a balance of strength, power, speed, mobility and endurance. To build all these qualities in any adult, child, junior or teen that has enrolled, requires cross training in a dedicated gym or academy by adapting multiple disciplines in the pursuit of becoming a complete martial artist.
The success of MMA as a fitness class offering can’t be put down to one single reason. However, the diversity of the training outcomes has popularized MMA inspired training in any open gym as it appeals to all levels and all age groups like a junior, kids, teenagers or even adults. And it comes with many benefits.
